Al-Fudhayl (ibn ‘Iyyad) said:

The knowledgeable one is the one who works with his knowledge so that he is called  great in the Kingdom of the Heavens.

[Al-Majmoo’ Sharh al-Madhhab of Imaam Yahya bin Sharaf an-Nawawee, p42]

» And the meaning is that the Ahlus-Samawaat (the Inhabitants of the Heavens) call him great, due to his great importance on account of his collecting knowledge, and acting upon it and teaching it. [Tuhfah al-Ahwadhi of al-Mubaarakpuri, p380]
