Submissiveness Of The Heart

ash-Shaykh AbdurRahmaan bin Naasir as-Sa’dee:

‘Certainly Allaah praised al-Khushoo’ (Submissiveness/Humility) in the general sense: during all times, conditions, and acts of worship. For example, in His تعالى statement:

» “…The humble men and humble women…” [Soorah al-Ahzaab (33): 35]

» “Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allaah and what has come down of the truth?…” [Soorah al-Hadeed (57): 16]

» “Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds and humbled themselves to their Lord – those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide eternally therein.” [Soorah Hood (11): 23]’

‘And He (Allaah) commended al-Khushoo’  specifically during the Salaah. For example, in His Statement:

» “Certainly will the believers have succeeded: They who are during their prayer humbly submissive.” [Soorah Al-Mu’minoon (23): 1 – 2]

Therefore, khushoo’ of the heart a sign of al-Imaan and a sign of happiness. Just as, the hardness of it (the heart) and the lack of khushoo’ in it, is a sign of wretchedness.’
