A Plethora of Hadeeth from Abu Hurayrah

Why are there so many narrations from Abu Hurayrah?
Narrated Abu Hurayrah radhiAllaahu anh: People say that I have narrated many ahadeeth. Had it not been for two ayaat in the Qur’aan, I would not have narrated a single Hadeeth, and the ayaat are:
Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture – those are cursed by Allaah and cursed by those who curse … Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those – I will accept their repentance, and I am the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.” [Soorah al-Baqarah (2):159-160)]
And no doubt our Muhaajir (emigrant) brothers used to be busy in the market with their business and our Ansaari brothers used to be busy with their property.
But I (Abu Hurayrah) used to stick to Allaah’s Messenger (salAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) contented with what will fill my stomach and I used to attend that which they used not to attend and I used to memorize that which they used not to memorize.
