Shukr and Istighfaar

From the benefits of Shaykhul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah: Whenever a person looks to what His Lord has done he does shukr (thankfulness/gratitude), and when he looks to his own self he does istighfaar (seeks forgiveness). — Majmoo’ alFatawa 16/188
