Forgetting the Qur’aan Is Only Due to Sin

November 13, 2015 § Leave a comment

adh-Dhahhaak said: A man does not learn the Qur’aan and then forgets it except due to a sin. Then he recited the ayah: “And whatever strikes you of disaster – it is for what your hands have earned” [42:30] Then he said: And what calamity is worse than forgetting the Qur’aan?!

Whoever Fears Allaah

January 25, 2014 § 1 Comment

Allaah, the Exalted said: { And whoever fears Allaah – He will make for him of his matter ease. }

{ومن يتق الله يجعل له من أمره يسرا}

[Soorah at-Talaaq (65): 4]

Ibnul-Qayyim: So He informed that indeed, He makes ease for the Muttaqee (the person who has taqwa), such ease/facilitation that is not made for other than him (i.e. it is exclusive to the Muttaqee).

There is a Purpose

December 29, 2013 § 1 Comment

“And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth.” [Soorah al-Hijr (15): 85]

Meaning: We have not created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them except in truth, not in play nor in vain. Rather, it is so that the slaves may recognize the greatness of their Creator, so they worship Him, Alone. And they know that, indeed, He is able to return the slaves (to life) after their death.

Al-Hasan al-Basree said concerning the ayah: “Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good…” [Soorah al-Baqarah (2): 201]

What Is With Allaah Is Better

April 11, 2013 § Leave a comment

The great Mufassir, al-Imaam al-Qurtubee rahimahullaah wrote on this aayah: “And whatever thing you [people] have been given – it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allaah is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason?” [Soorah al-Qasas (28): 60]

He (the exegete) says: Meaning: It (what is with Allaah) is more superior and more lasting. He intends by this the home of the Hereafter and it is al-Jannah. Thus, will you not use your intellect? Indeed, that which is long lasting is better than that which is transitory!
